Kirodimal Government Polytechnic (KGP Raigarh) is a state-run technical education institute located in Chakradhar Nagar, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. Established in 1956–57, it is one of the oldest polytechnic institutions in the erstwhile state of Madhya Pradesh and continues to serve as a major center for diploma-level engineering education in the region. It is affiliated with Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University and approved by All India Council for Technical Education.

History and Background

KGP Raigarh was inaugurated by India’s first President, Rajendra Prasad. Since its founding, the institute has played a central role in technical manpower development for Chhattisgarh and neighboring states. Its alumni hold positions across government, industry, and public enterprises. Initially focused on core engineering disciplines, the institution has expanded to meet evolving technological needs.

Academic Programs

The polytechnic offers three-year diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Electronics & Telecommunication, and Metallurgical Engineering. Part-time diploma options in Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering—launched in 2008–09—serve working professionals from nearby industries. Admission is conducted through the Pre-Polytechnic Test (PPT) managed by CG Vyapam, followed by centralized counseling.
