A joint team of Cyber Police Station and Chakradharnagar Police Station caught an accused while betting on the ball-to-ball match of Afghanistan vs Canada T20 World Cup match. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the ‘Ajay Cold Drinks and Paan Centre’ located at Jamunain Chowk, where the accused, Hemant Batra, was found betting on winning and losing online.

During police interrogation, the accused admitted to betting operations and said that the transaction was done through UPI and he worked for a key ditch. Police recovered two Apple iPhones, cash and betting records from the spot. In the seized mobile examination, the active ID on the JMDBET.com confirmed the betting operation. An offence has been registered against the accused under Section 7 of the Chhattisgarh Prohibition of Gambling Act and sent to judicial remand. The other suspects have been identified and a manhunt is underway to arrest them, police said.
